Thai Politicians in Thai Sign Language - TSL

Here you can see some of the Signs for Thai politicians. At the beginning you can see the sign of the new Prime Minister, Samak Sundaravej, which has caused some criticism towards the Sign Language translators on TV. See Story...




It is common in Sign Languages all over the world to use physical features to create a sign referring to the person. It sure is not meant to offend anybody, it is just part of the person and might be the first thing you see. Also in the Swiss Goverment: Pascal Couchepin's nose is also (like the new Thai PM) referred to in SL, Micheline Calmy-Rey's standard haircut is also the best way to refer to her ... etc.
